Acts 13:18 – Now for a time of about forty years [God] put up with their ways in the wilderness.
People who have seriously hurt us or who do not react favorably to our efforts to show care and concern for them are at times difficult to feel love towards. We many times show a kind and loving exterior when the feeling we have on the inside is just “putting up with them”. When this happens, it may help us to remember just how patient God has been with us. He has given us His Spirit to help us overcome our negative feelings and respond with love to those who are hard to love or who are ungrateful (Gal 5:22-23). It is not easy but by seeking Gods love for them through prayer we can change our own heart.
