Topic: Love Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:7
We use hyperbole in everyday speech.
1 Corinthians 13:7
2 MISTAKES PEOPLE MAKE WHEN READING & APPLYING THE BIBLE
1. People won't take literally things that are meant to be taken literally.
-The Scriptures are not all symbolic.
-The story of Jonah is written as a literal narrative & many people often view this as symbolic.
2. People take things literally when they aren't meant to be taken literally.
-Many of the Proverbs are descriptive but not meant to be taken literally when read & studied.
Verse 7 of 1 Corinthians includes hyperbole.
PROTECTS
-Agape love bears all things, protects, covers, holds on to innocence, stops wrongful actions from getting to another, gives a second chance to (& beyond).
-Psalm 32:1, Psalm 85:2, 1 Peter 4:8
TRUSTS
-Agape love believes all things, trusts, leads to repentance, leads to healing, desires the best, does not gossip, builds people up.
-Genesis 9:18-27
HOPES
-Agape love desires a certain outcome, gives life, human failure is not final, puts issues into God's hands.
PERSEVERES
-Agape love endures, holds a position, does not give up, is unending, is the key to victory, stays the course.
-Hebrews 11:1-3
