1 Corinthians 13:8-13

3 THINGS THESE VERSES ENCOURAGE US TO DO...

1. Keep first things first & not major in the minor.

-The church in Corinth was not showing love correctly.
-Love doesn't fail, lasts forever, stays connected.
---Love doesn't die & fade away.
-The pull is there to take pride in minor things.
---Some of these minor things are gifts from God possibly just for our entertainment.
------But are we loving others with the minors?

2. Work at being more & more like Jesus.

-Many adults don't act like adults.
---It can easily be seen.
-Many people might think they are good.
---The important focus is to be righteous...like Jesus.
------We can never achieve this on our own.
-We have to put forth effort to be like Jesus.
-We often get distracted along the way & need to be reminded to get back on track.
-We will never achieve the level of perfection of loving in this life.
---It can only happen when God eternally changes us.

3. Remember our future.

-The time of perfect love is coming.
-We only know the love of God in part.
---Bad things happen & we question the love of God.
-Philippians 1:6
---We put our hope in these promises.
-Our hope lies within something that hasn't taken place yet.
-When we see Jesus our faith will be replaced by sight, our hope will no longer be needed because they will be fulfilled, but our love will be made complete/perfected.
